Hey gals. Sorry for the delay of info on the next field trip. I finally got it worked out today. It will be on Tuesday, December 2nd. We will start at my house for circle time. Then we will be writing letters to Santa Claus and eating lunch. At 10:55 we will drive over to Color Me Mine in the Kohl's shopping center to paint Christmas ornaments. I was planning to have the parents attend just the painting portion of the day.
The cost for the painting will be a $5 sitting fee and $4.99 for an ornament. They will be having a special two-for-Tuesday deal that day where you buy one sitting fee and the second sitting fee is free. I am imagining that the easiest way of working the two-for-Tuesday deal is either have a parent or sibling use the freebie or work it out with another preschooler to get the discount. I think paying separately when we are there would be the easiest way of handling it. I need to know from everyone how many of the moms or siblings would like to do an ornament (or any other piece they have to choose from) so that I can give them a head count of painters.
The ornaments are about 4" tall and we can choose from a santa, snowman, mittens, candy cane, or gingerbread man. And if you want to paint something else you can check out their website to get an idea of what they offer. www.elkgrove.colormemine.com
Give me a call if you have any questions 548-2002, and please give me your head count in the next week or so. Also, remember preschool starts at my house next Tuesday. We'll be learning about the seasons and holidays. My address is 9470 Hidden Hollow Court. Thanks everyone!

Jury Duty
Okay so I have a real bummer, I have gotten assigned Jury duty! It was set for this Monday the 29th and Jared checked the website for me to see if it was cancelled or not. It was not but they pushed my date back to Thursday Oct 2nd which is my first day of pre-school. The website said to check back Wed after 5pm to see if I have to be there or not. I am hoping that they delay it again or cancel and I will plan on having class on Thursday. However if I have to go I would either need a sub or to switch the day to Friday. I am fine with teaching the next day, and hopefully they will not call me back the next day. Sorry this if this is confusing, I have never had Jury duty so I don't know the likely hood of them postponing again or if they'll have me come back the next day or whatever it is that they do:) Any comments or suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated:)
Also as a side note, the first class that will hopefully be on the scheduled day ( Oct 2nd) we will be making food group kabobs so if usually pack a full lunch I would just have them bring a couple snacks. I am also pretty sure that none of your kids are allergic to anything, if they are let me know:) Thanks
Courtney

October Field Trip on Oct 23rd....
We will be going to Fog Willow Pumpkin Farm for our field trip on Oct 23rd. The reservations were hard to come by... couldn't get an earlier time in the morning this day (or any other day in October). The best I could do was 11:30 am. So, our preschool time will be slightly different for the 23rd... hope this won't cause too much trouble for any one.
10:20 - Meet at Fog Willow (in Wilton)
10:30 - Circle Time
11:00 - Lunch/Snack
11:30 - 1 1/2 hour Field Trip tour.... includes petting zoo, hay rides, pumpkins, etc. check out more details at http://www.fogwillow.com/
1:00 - head home ;-)
Cost is $6 for our kids (free for kids 2 and under) and $4 for adults. Each paying person gets a pumpkin to take home... we also get a class picture that we'll copy for everyone.

Late Penalty
We confirmed in our meeting last night that being late for either drop-off or pick-up will result in Tiger's Yogurt for the teacher ;-) There is a bit of a grace period; you have until 9:10 for drop off and until 12:05 for pickup before the late penatly is in affect. So, synch your watches and let's commit to be a prompt preschool ;-)
Preschool topic for 1st 2 weeks in September
The topic for the first week of pre-school will be "getting to know you".
The second week of pre-school will be "I am special".
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!

New Calendar and Field Trip Notes
Hi everyone--
Since I adjusted the calendar I have now made it so that everyone gets a set of 4 days and a set of 5 days for teaching. I tried to space them so that when we have our winter break, Tika will finish her set before the break and Wendy will start it up after the break. Also, I didn't add in the field trips so I wanted to let you know how it will work.
There will be one field trip a month EXCEPT for in December. The field trips will correspond with your teaching time. So, here is the list of who is in charge of the field trip for each month. Please plan to do the field trip on one of your scheduled teaching days. (I hope this makes sense.)
September- Lisa
October- Jennifer
Novemeber- Camille
December- NO FIELD TRIP
January- Becky
February- Courtney
March- Becki
April- Tika
May- Wendy
June- End of year party and maybe one more field trip-- the group can decide.
I can help answer any questions at the meeting in August. I hope the new calendar works out o.k. with everyone's schedules. Thanks!

Late Fee
I was thinking about how we talked about being on time to preschool and I thought of an idea that seemed like fun. I was thinking that if you're late (after 9:10) then you owe the teacher a candy bar, Tiger's yogurt, or something like that. Something that would be annoying if you had to do it too many times but wouldn't make you feel bad if you were late a couple times. Just a little fun accountability. Also, if your late your child will miss the name board and the name sign in part and that's pretty important so that would also be motivating. I just had this thought today, I'm not obsessed with punctuality but I thought it might be a more positive way to promote it. Lisa

Happy Days Schedule
Hi Ladies-
I set up a Google calendar at the bottom of our blog. It will stay there permanently so you'll always be able to check it. Just use the tab buttons at the top of it to change months. I arranged the schedule so that we each have one set of 4 days to teach (two week period) and one set of 5 days to teach (three week period) with the set of 5 days including a field trip. I put all the field trips on Thursdays and tried to space them out as best I could. Some of you may have the field trip after you teach the 5 days, and some may have it in the middle of your 5 days. You'll see. Lisa is the only one without a field trip on her days, but I put the last day of school at the park across the street from her house the week she teaches. We ended up having only 3 weeks open at the end of the year so I had Lisa and I take 2 extra teaching days (this is no big deal) and I threw in one more field trip and the end of the year party. Check the schedule to make sure the dates work for you. Since I had to add in field trips, it changed the schedule a bit from what we had discussed the other night at our meeting. Hopefully it works out for everyone, and like we said at the meeting, we are all pretty flexible so we can switch it up if necessary.
