Our Little Artists

This week in preschool we are talking about art and different artists. On Tuesday we talked about Vincent Van Gogh and made some swirly melted crayon art on tinfoil. Today we talked about abstract art and I introduced them to Jackson Pollock and showed them his way of splatter painting. We then used marbles to make our own "splatter paint" art and the kids had fun. It was after a few of them did their paintings that I thought to take some pictures.

Then they made bead bracelets with 14 beads (the number of the day) and were very proud of their work. I had to take pictures of them since they were all so cute!

Except when they were concentrating on their crafts, the kids had a bit of a wild day. I'm thinking this rain is the cause-- no time to play outside. Hopefully next week their wiggles will be gone and we can have some more fun at preschool.

I hope to teach them about two more artists next week before our field trip on February 3rd to the Crocker.

Feb Field Trip

Hey everyone I have just booked our field trip for Feb. Since my topic is Safety/Town Heros we will be visiting safteyville usa on Feb 19th . We will meet for circle time at 9:30 and our tour is at 10am. After the tour we will have lunch in there open grass area if the weather is nice:) They need to know how many kids and at what age are going to give us the guided tour, the more the better:) The cost is $2.00 per child and no cost for kids under 2:) Please let me know if you are going to be able to make it so I can give them a final head count! Thanks everybody, this should be a really great time! You can visit their website at http://www.safetycenter.org/sv_childrenssafety.html

On a side note: During my time teaching the kids I have asked Jody Hoyt-Dunning to come in and talk to our kids about safety and things kids can know to portect themselves against predators/attackers in a very age appropriate way. Jody is a licensed child and family therapist and is encouraging parents to come and listen with your children. She is very positive wonderful person I am sure you all know and I think the perfect person to help learn what to teach our children. If you do not wish your child to participate or would like to talk to me more about what Jody will be teaching that is great:) If you have any objections please feel free to express them:) I love you all and we love our children and I think this is a wonderful opportunity to teach our children about these sensitive subjects in a safe age appropriate enviroment:) I will be schelduling with Jody to find out what day works best for her. Again Thanks everybody!
