Hello everyone!
I am scheduled to teach the end of March and have discovered recently that I won't be in town on the 24th. I will be able to teach the rest of my days though so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to sub for me that day. I will have all the materials you need ready for you. Thanks. If there is no one who can sub I will figure something else out. Thanks!

Our Little Artists
This week in preschool we are talking about art and different artists. On Tuesday we talked about Vincent Van Gogh and made some swirly melted crayon art on tinfoil. Today we talked about abstract art and I introduced them to Jackson Pollock and showed them his way of splatter painting. We then used marbles to make our own "splatter paint" art and the kids had fun. It was after a few of them did their paintings that I thought to take some pictures.

Then they made bead bracelets with 14 beads (the number of the day) and were very proud of their work. I had to take pictures of them since they were all so cute!

Except when they were concentrating on their crafts, the kids had a bit of a wild day. I'm thinking this rain is the cause-- no time to play outside. Hopefully next week their wiggles will be gone and we can have some more fun at preschool.
I hope to teach them about two more artists next week before our field trip on February 3rd to the Crocker.

Feb Field Trip
Hey everyone I have just booked our field trip for Feb. Since my topic is Safety/Town Heros we will be visiting safteyville usa on Feb 19th . We will meet for circle time at 9:30 and our tour is at 10am. After the tour we will have lunch in there open grass area if the weather is nice:) They need to know how many kids and at what age are going to give us the guided tour, the more the better:) The cost is $2.00 per child and no cost for kids under 2:) Please let me know if you are going to be able to make it so I can give them a final head count! Thanks everybody, this should be a really great time! You can visit their website at http://www.safetycenter.org/sv_childrenssafety.html
On a side note: During my time teaching the kids I have asked Jody Hoyt-Dunning to come in and talk to our kids about safety and things kids can know to portect themselves against predators/attackers in a very age appropriate way. Jody is a licensed child and family therapist and is encouraging parents to come and listen with your children. She is very positive wonderful person I am sure you all know and I think the perfect person to help learn what to teach our children. If you do not wish your child to participate or would like to talk to me more about what Jody will be teaching that is great:) If you have any objections please feel free to express them:) I love you all and we love our children and I think this is a wonderful opportunity to teach our children about these sensitive subjects in a safe age appropriate enviroment:) I will be schelduling with Jody to find out what day works best for her. Again Thanks everybody!

November/December Field Trip
Hey gals. Sorry for the delay of info on the next field trip. I finally got it worked out today. It will be on Tuesday, December 2nd. We will start at my house for circle time. Then we will be writing letters to Santa Claus and eating lunch. At 10:55 we will drive over to Color Me Mine in the Kohl's shopping center to paint Christmas ornaments. I was planning to have the parents attend just the painting portion of the day.
The cost for the painting will be a $5 sitting fee and $4.99 for an ornament. They will be having a special two-for-Tuesday deal that day where you buy one sitting fee and the second sitting fee is free. I am imagining that the easiest way of working the two-for-Tuesday deal is either have a parent or sibling use the freebie or work it out with another preschooler to get the discount. I think paying separately when we are there would be the easiest way of handling it. I need to know from everyone how many of the moms or siblings would like to do an ornament (or any other piece they have to choose from) so that I can give them a head count of painters.
The ornaments are about 4" tall and we can choose from a santa, snowman, mittens, candy cane, or gingerbread man. And if you want to paint something else you can check out their website to get an idea of what they offer. www.elkgrove.colormemine.com
Give me a call if you have any questions 548-2002, and please give me your head count in the next week or so. Also, remember preschool starts at my house next Tuesday. We'll be learning about the seasons and holidays. My address is 9470 Hidden Hollow Court. Thanks everyone!

Jury Duty
Okay so I have a real bummer, I have gotten assigned Jury duty! It was set for this Monday the 29th and Jared checked the website for me to see if it was cancelled or not. It was not but they pushed my date back to Thursday Oct 2nd which is my first day of pre-school. The website said to check back Wed after 5pm to see if I have to be there or not. I am hoping that they delay it again or cancel and I will plan on having class on Thursday. However if I have to go I would either need a sub or to switch the day to Friday. I am fine with teaching the next day, and hopefully they will not call me back the next day. Sorry this if this is confusing, I have never had Jury duty so I don't know the likely hood of them postponing again or if they'll have me come back the next day or whatever it is that they do:) Any comments or suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated:)
Also as a side note, the first class that will hopefully be on the scheduled day ( Oct 2nd) we will be making food group kabobs so if usually pack a full lunch I would just have them bring a couple snacks. I am also pretty sure that none of your kids are allergic to anything, if they are let me know:) Thanks
